How Are You?

OBJECTIVE: For pupils to ask questions and listen to the answer. To introduce simple greeting phrases in Welsh, German and English.

In a circle sitting or standing in the classroom, pupils receive a card with an emoji. One person starts the activity by stepping out of the circle and walking around it. Then they stop behind a person of choice, tap their shoulder and ask “Wie geht´s?” / “Sut wyt ti?/ How are you?” The other person answers according to their emoji card. Then they step out of the circle.

What you need to do:

Familiarise your group with the structure “Wie geht’s?” as well as answer options.

Extension:

You can ask the pupils to act out their emojis while answering. This is also a great way to introduce and practice different intonations.
